Category:Russia
The largest country on earth, Russia has vast wilderness areas suitable for all kinds of outdoor activities. Mountainous regions include the Caucasus, Urals, Khibiny, Altay, Putorana Plateau, Sayan, Kamchatka, and innumerable smaller ranges in Siberia. Some areas, such as the Caucasus region around Mt. Elbrus, the highest mountain in Europe, have well-established trails. Others are nearly tractless. In addition, Russia's flatlands have great water reserves and forests which are visited by fishermen and hunters. Barriers to travel in Russia are: visas for citizens of most countries, registration requirements, the complex, but efficient transportation network, regions requiring special permits, and, of course, the Russian language.
