Double Wall
Single Wall
Single wall tents are lighter than double wall tents, and are made entirely out of water repellent materials. There are several advantages to these over double wall tents, primarily the weight. There are, however, some negatives. Since single wall tents are treated with non-breathable waterproofing, condensation buildup is often an issue. To compensate, single walled tents are built to ventilate the condensation. In a poorly vented tent, splashback may occur, potentially getting gear wet. This is especially a problem for down sleeping bags, which do not respond well to dampness.
